Opportunities to Become Involved

Family and community involvement are vital components of a successful Head Start program. Skyline CAP Head Start benefits each year from the invaluable support of volunteers.

You can contribute to fostering strong families that in turn build strong communities by getting involved in the mission of Head Start.

Opportunities to be involved as a Volunteer

• Interact and develop positive relationships with young children in a Head Start classroom.
• Assist staff and Head Start families at various parent/child events throughout the year.
• Assist with various activities that support the Head Start program.
• Serve as a Community Representative on the Skyline CAP Head Start Policy Council.
• Gain valuable experience regarding health and nutrition by serving on the Skyline CAP Head Start Health Advisory Board or the Education Advisory Board.

Opportunities to be involved as a Student

• Use as a student teaching and practicum placement.
• Work with technology, web pages, and soft ware.
• Gain experience with various resources and goal setting with families through active participation with family advocates.
• Gain research, writing, and editing skills by assisting with grant writing.
• Use Head Start as a resource for projects and papers.
• Gain public relations/marketing skills by participating in the family recruitment process.

Opportunities to be involved as a Corporation, Community Group, or Individual

At various times throughout the year the program may need donated operating resources, such as activity space (i.e conference room, meeting room or large group function room). Head Start is always in need of items such as educational supplies, art supplies, books and clothing for children 3-5.
