Who We Are

Skyline CAP, Inc. is a private non-profit Community Action Agency. Established in 1987 as Greene County Community Development Agency by concerned local citizens, it was later incorporated in 1990 as Skyline Community Action Program, and appointed as the designated community action agency for Greene, Madison and Orange County. Today, Skyline CAP, Inc. is part of the continuing war on poverty. It reaches out to low income individuals and families in its communities and meets multiple needs through a comprehensive approach, develops partnerships with other community organizations and businesses, and involves its low income families in its operation. Skyline CAP offers programs that increase the ability of individuals and families to find solutions to their problems so that they no longer need assistance.

Our Vision

All low to moderate income individuals within Madison, Greene and Orange Counties will have access to the same opportunities and services necessary to maintain economic self sufficiency as is available to others within our community.

Our Mission

To give a hand up to those in need through actions that promote self sufficiency by helping residents obtain skills and seek opportunities that will move them toward self-reliance; to provide assistance where needed and to educate the public in Madison, Greene, Orange County about the causes and effects of, as well as the solutions to poverty.

Community Action

We are just one of 26 other Community Action Agencies found throughout Virginia, and belong to a national network of over 1,000 CAA’s , all dedicated to the cause of reducing poverty by addressing the devastating affects of poverty on children and families in Virginia and throughout the country. The Agency is governed by a Board of Directors made up of a cross section of citizens representing the low income, private business and elected government officials, advocating on behalf of low income residents.
